Today’s lunch will be corndog nuggets or burger slammers, mac & cheese, and french fries. Tomorrow’s lunch will be turkey or ham sandwich, baked chips, and a cookie.

Student’s grades are available again through our new Power School program. Have your parents contact your teacher if you have any questions.

Heritage Academy Open House for prospective students will be held tonight. The elementary Open House will be from 5:30-6:30 and the high school Open House will begin at 6:30. All teachers need to be in attendance.

Students, don’t forget to be selling your tuition raffle tickets. The tickets will be sold for $20.00 a piece. Tickets will need to be turned in this Friday, February 10^th.

February 17^th will be a half day of school due to the District II AAA Basketball Tournament. After hours will be available. On that same day, students may show their support for the Mississippi Burn Foundation by bringing $1.00. The students that do bring $1.00 get to wear blue jeans to school that day. The money raised will go to help families of burn victims.

There will be no school on Monday, February 20^th, due to President’s Day.

The Student Raffle Competition is well underway! All students are asked to sell 5 tickets at $20 each.  There are great prizes for those who participate! The competition ends Feb. 10th and the drawing will be Feb. 14th at the home basketball game. Students can turn in tickets and money to homeroom teachers at any time.  

Raffle Ticket Turn In Day ~ Friday ~ All students should report to homeroom on Friday, February 3rd, to turn in the raffle tickets they have sold so far.  Let’s see who is winning! Make sure the students write their name on the back of each ticket.

Mississippi Governor’s School

The Mississippi Governor’s School is now accepting applications for the summer 2012 session. Students must be current sophomores or juniors. The date for the session is June 3-22 and the theme is “Leading With a Vision.” The program is held on the campus of MUW and is funded through the Mississippi Legislature. Students who are selected for this three week residential program receive FULL scholarship for tuition, room and board.

There are numerous benefits for attending Governor’s School. Each scholar will receive three hours credit to be used at any university and a $500 scholarship to attend MUW. If you are interested in attending please come by the counselor’s office or go to www.muw.edu/govschool to see if you qualify and for an application. The postmark deadline is JANUARY 20, 2012.

The Rural Medical Scholars Program

The Rural Medical Scholars Program is a summer opportunity for academically talented students between their junior and senior years. The program encourages high school students interested in pursuing a career as a family medicine physician.

The program is held at Mississippi State University for 5 weeks this summer (May 30-July 2). Students will have the opportunity to attend MSU for 5 weeks, take two pre-med courses, and observe doctors at practice. Registration fee is $60. Tuition, room, and textbooks are provided by the program. Food expenses are not included.

Applicants must have a minimum ACT score of 25 ( minimum 24 on the math section).
