Mississippi Studies encompasses many rich and diverse areas of study of our state. The course includes the geographical and environmental characteristics of Mississippi. We will also look at Mississippi’s early period from frontier days through the Civil War, Reconstruction, as well as Mississippi in the twentieth century. We will also study the state’s population characteristics, its economic activities, its literary and arts heritage, and political systems. This course is a true portrait of an American state.
