Advanced Biology
Advanced biology is designed to give the student an appreciation for their body, its systems, and how each system is related. During the year, students learn about each of the body systems, beginning at the cellular level and progressing to the organismal level. Emphasis will be placed on anatomy and physiology of each system as well as homeostatic imbalances (diseases, illness, etc) that may impact them. Students will examine and dissect rats, muscle, bone, hearts, eyes, and brains. At the end of the year, students participate in a very detailed cat dissection to review the anatomy of each body system.
