The Heritage Academy fourth grade academic foundation utilizes various approaches to learning through textbooks, research, technology, peer sharing, group and individual projects, and hands-on learning. All student learning styles are addressed using visual, auditory, and kinesthetic teaching methods. Accelerated Reading (AR) and Accelerated Math (AM) on-line curricula allow individual and self-paced practice of reading and math skills. Students prepare and present oral presentations. Experiments and investigations develop problem-solving skills in academic and social areas. Planning and organization of materials and ideas emphasize maximum achievement. Parents and teachers communicate and work together utilizing e-mail and other written correspondence, weekly reports of academic performance, on-line access to current test scores as well as AR and AM performance, and on-line classroom calendars that display immediate information about field trips and classroom events.
