Mission Statement

HA – High Moral Standards and Academic Excellence
Heritage Academy is a college preparatory school which seeks to prepare students for college and for life, as well as to inspire, challenge, and motivate its students.

Philosophy

The board, administration, and faculty of Heritage Academy believe that every child should be provided with a balanced and nurturing environment for learning and with opportunities for developing sound moral and social values, physical fitness, creativity, and an aesthetic appreciation.
We believe it is the responsibility of the administration and faculty, along with the parents, to provide experiences that will teach each student responsibilities and obligations as a contributing member of society.

Accredidation

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Mississippi Private School Education Association accredits Heritage Academy at the highest level.

Admission Policy

The admission policies and procedures for admitting students to Heritage Academy Junior High/High School are as follows:

  • A copy of the prospective student’s most recent achievement test scores and report card must be furnished.
  • Reason(s) for the student’s withdrawing from the previous school must be put in writing.
  • The student’s record must verify acceptable academic performance.
  • The prospective student must have acceptable deportment.
  • Heritage Academy does not accept a student who has been suspended and/or expelled from another school.
  • Heritage Academy reserves the right to test students for admission and placement.

Service Learning Program

As an independent school we strive to introduce students to community service. We strive to serve and improve our community through the Service Learning Program.
Each student in grades 9-12 will average 25 hours of community service per year in order to earn 100 documented hours by March 31 of the senior year. The 100 hours must be documented for a student to receive the Heritage diploma on graduation day.
See Service Learning Program under Academics for more details.

Each school day begins with morning devotion and the Pledge of Allegiance.
